Syrup As It Should Be
When it comes to maple syrup, not all bottles are created equal. At Southwell Sugar Shack, we make the choice simple. Our maple syrup comes straight from the source: the sugar maple tree. No additives. No preservatives. Just pure, unadulterated goodness, crafted in Michigan.
Proudly Michigan, Proudly Organic

Crafted with Care, Rooted in Tradition
As a multi-generational, American-made, and certified organic producer, we take pride in our family’s commitment to quality. What began as a way to teach our children and grandchildren the value of hard work—while helping them earn money for their education—has grown into a business we’re honored to share with you and your family.
From Tree to Table
From the moment we tap our trees to the careful boiling of sap, we honor every step of the process with care, blending our passion for nature with techniques passed down through generations. The result is as rich in flavor as it is in meaning—a deep, golden sweetness with subtle, complex notes that can only come from pure maple syrup.

-
Tree Tapping: Each winter, our family gears up with toolbelts and snowshoes to tap the sugar bush. Even the youngest join in as we replace spiles and drill fresh holes. With Grandad’s guidance, we ensure sustainable tapping, preserving our trees while crafting quality maple syrup.
-
Boiling Maple Sap: Making syrup is simple: boil sap to remove excess water, leaving pure maple syrup. We blend tradition with modern tech for efficiency and sustainability. We use reverse osmosis to remove extra water, then boil it in a wood-fired evaporator, just like our great-grandfather.
-
Grading & Boiling: Quality comes first, which is why we’re organically certified. We follow strict grading standards for syrup density, clarity, flavor, and color, backed by our Certified Maple Graders. Made and bottled on our farm by hand, we ensure every detail is perfect, producing the best maple products for our family and yours!
