Maple Gingersnaps

These cookies are the perfect comfort food!

Ingredients 

1 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

3 Tbsp maple syrup

1 large egg

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp allspice

1 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup maple sugar (topping)

Directions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Cream butter with white and brown sugars until light and fluffy. Mix in egg and maple syrup.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, spices, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture in three steps, mixing thoroughly after each addition.

  5. Put maple sugar for topping in a small bowl. 

  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll them in maple sugar. Place dough balls two inches apart on parchment-lined cookie sheets.

  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in preheated oven. Remove cookies from oven when top is crackled and slightly browned. Remove the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
