Maple Snickerdoodles

One of our family's all-time favorite maple treats!

Soft and chewy with a perfect blend of cinnamon and maple,

these are excellent on their own, but even better dunked in milk, tea, or coffee!

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 cup granulated white sugar

3 Tbs maple syrup

1 large egg

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 tsp baking soda

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Topping:

1/4 cup white sugar

1/4 cup maple sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Cream butter with 1 cup of white sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg and maple syrup.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon.

  4. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture in three steps, mixing thoroughly after each addition.

  5. For the topping, combine the remaining white and maple sugars in a small bowl.

  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll them in the sugar topping mixture. Place dough balls 2 inches apart on parchment-lined cookie sheets.

  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in preheated oven. Remove cookies from oven when top is crackled and slightly browned. Remove the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
